"June 29th, I contacted Service Experts because my AC was not cooling my house. After the technician performed his checks, it was identified that my capacitor wasn't working properly. He replaced it and informed me that i may want to think about adding refrigerant to get cooler air. I was charged $232 for the capacitor and $66 for a Level 1 Fault Location. I called back June 30th, because my house didn't cool as expected. The technician came out with William and explained that I could choose options to purchase a new unit. All I wanted was to get my AC unit working again, not buy another unit."

"I have been a service contract customer of Service Experts, and their predecessor Piedmont AC for 33 years, with a current contract on 5 units. Over the years I have purchased 3 complete systems from you. Yesterday I had my annual AC check. The tech was as usual courteous and competent. However, toward the end of the visit another tech came out and informed me that he needed to install two capacitors, at a cost of $250 each. I said "I have a parts and labor warranty on these units." He then said (and these were his exact words) "this is normal maintenance, like changing the oil in your car." I thought this was rather sketchy, but had him proceed while I looked at through my voluminous files for the warranty. In fact, capacitors are covered, after they fail. So he was lying to me. It's as though I had a warranty on an automobile, but the dealer told me to put on a new carburetor, "just in case". It is in no sense the same as changing oil, or even adding Freon to the system. This is dishonest and despicable. Your tech was taking advantage of my advanced age and lack of knowledge of how these systems work. In the past, Service Experts has occasionally tried to push additional services on me--filter systems, for example-- but it was obvious that this was a sales pitch, not a diagnosis. This is conduct I would not expect from a firm with which I have done business for decades. I will not renew my service contract, nor purchase any new units from Service Experts. I intend to also disseminate this message of warning widely on local social media and business review sites, at which I have some expertise. I can also copy COSTCO, through which I purchased my last heat pump from your firm. I'm pretty sure that they care quite a bit about the ethical standards of the firms they recommend. I suggest that you have a manager call me to discuss.;"

I was given a window of 2-4pm and had to call about 3 or 4 times because my technician didn't show up until about 6pm. Further, when I spoke to the back office, they assured me he was 20 minutes away (around 4:30). I don't appreciate the lies and lack of communication on the logistics side of the house (3 out of 10)."
